From TikTok to “I Do”
Some love stories start with a chance meeting at a coffee shop. Some begin through mutual friends. And, of course, we can't forget about the high school sweethearts. Every one of those love stories is beautiful in its own way, but this next one might make you question everything you thought you knew about fate.
Because Jenn and Ryan's love story?
It started with an algorithm.
A Love Story That Traveled Thousands of Miles
Jennifer, from Massachusetts, and Ryan, from England, met through TikTok about two and a half years before their wedding day. What could have been nothing more than two people stumbling across each other on the internet somehow turned into conversations, a connection, and eventually a relationship spanning an entire ocean. Apparently TikTok really said, these two — put them together.
Long-distance relationships are hard enough when you live a few hours apart. Jennifer and Ryan were working with different countries, different time zones, international flights, and an entire Atlantic Ocean between them. Still, the distance never became bigger than the relationship they were building.
Over the course of two and a half years, they traveled back and forth between the United States and England more than 15 times. Fifteen-plus flights, reunions, airport goodbyes, countdowns until the next trip, and a whole lot of miles later, they made it to the trip that mattered most: the one that ended with them becoming husband and wife.
And honestly? Knowing their story made photographing their wedding feel even more significant. A wedding day is always the culmination of so much more than what happens during those few hours, but for Jennifer and Ryan, you could quite literally measure part of that journey in thousands of miles.
A Destination Wedding at The Barn at Wright Farm
Jennifer and Ryan chose The Barn at Wight Farm in historic Sturbridge, Massachusetts for their wedding, and it was the perfect New England backdrop for a love story that had already traveled so far.
Sturbridge has that quintessential Massachusetts charm that makes the entire area feel like it belongs in a New England wedding gallery. The historic surroundings paired with the rustic character of The Barn at Wight Farm gave us so much to work with photographically while still allowing the day to feel relaxed, intimate, and completely centered around Jennifer and Ryan.
For us, this was also a travel wedding. CNY Photographs packed up and headed from Central New York to Massachusetts to document the day, and weddings like this are exactly why we love being destination wedding photographers. Traveling somewhere new gives us the opportunity to see a venue with completely fresh eyes, find the little pockets of light and scenery that make it unique, and tell a wedding story that feels connected to the place where it happened.
Wedding Photography That Lets the Day Actually Happen
As beautiful as The Barn at Wight Farm is, Jennifer and Ryan's wedding wasn't about creating a gallery of perfect photographs at the expense of actually experiencing their wedding. The photographs mattered, but so did being present for the people who had traveled, celebrated, supported, and watched their relationship grow across two countries.
That's always the balance we're looking for as wedding photographers. We'll step in when you need direction, find the light, straighten the dress, organize the people, and create the portraits you'll want hanging in your home. But we're also watching for everything you couldn't possibly plan: the reactions, the laughter, the people in the background, the tiny interactions and in-between moments that end up meaning more as the years go by.
Our goal isn't for you to look back at your wedding and remember spending the entire day taking pictures. We want you to remember what it felt like to be there, and have photographs that bring all of it rushing back.
Jennifer and Ryan gave us one hell of a story to tell.
From England and Massachusetts to Forever
There is something pretty incredible about looking at two people standing together on their wedding day and knowing just how much had to happen for them to get there.
A TikTok algorithm had to put them in each other's orbit. A girl in Massachusetts and a guy in England had to decide that an ocean wasn't a dealbreaker. They had to navigate the flights, the distance, the goodbyes, the reunions, and more than 15 trips across the Atlantic.
Then, two and a half years later, surrounded by the people they love in historic Sturbridge, Massachusetts, Jennifer and Ryan finally got to trade long-distance for husband and wife.
Turns out, sometimes the algorithm really does know what it's doing.
Jenn and Ryan, thank you for trusting CNY Photographs to travel to Massachusetts and document this chapter of your story. Here's to significantly fewer airport goodbyes and a lifetime of adventures together.
Planning a Massachusetts or New England Wedding?
CNY Photographs is based in Central New York, but our cameras have passports, and our bags are half packed.
Whether you're planning a wedding in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, elsewhere in New England, somewhere across the United States, or your own love story happens to span a couple of countries, we would love to hear where it's taking you.
We photograph weddings with a mix of documentary storytelling and guided editorial portraiture, giving you space to actually experience your wedding while we take care of telling the story. From the big, planned moments to the tiny ones you didn't even know were happening, we're there for all of it.
Every CNY Photographs destination wedding includes two lead photographers, because your story is happening in more than one place at a time. While one of us is capturing the moment you walk down the aisle, the other is catching your partner's reaction. While one focuses on the big moments, the other is watching for the quiet ones happening just outside the frame. Two perspectives mean more of your day gets documented without pulling you away from actually living it — because some of the best moments happen when you don't even know we're watching.
Planning a destination wedding, Massachusetts wedding, or New England wedding? Tell us where we're going. You bring the love. We'll handle the rest.
